A new Picnic in Myyrmäki – the most central location in Myyrmanni, right by the growing customer flows.

The 39th restaurant of the Finnish Picnic chain, founded in 1991, will open in the Myyrmanni shopping center in Myyrmäki in early summer 2025. With this opening, Picnic strengthens its presence in shopping centers and areas with high foot traffic

The Picnic restaurant in Myyrmanni will open at the beginning of summer in the shopping center’s prime location, the ground floor atrium. The restaurant will serve customers throughout the day – from lunchgoers and commuters traveling by train to shoppers visiting the mall.

“Our popular baguettes and oven-baked potatoes are becoming the lunch and takeaway choice for more and more people, and we want to offer this easy option at Myyrmanni as well. Visitor numbers at Myyrmanni grew by 28 percent last year compared to the previous year. We have a unique opportunity to provide a cozy spot right in the heart of the shopping center’s growing foot traffic – a place to take a break, spend time, and enjoy something refreshing and nourishing,” says Kenneth Granroth, Picnic’s Location Manager.

Picnic aims to be the easiest choice – offering beloved Finnish favorites, from baguettes and salads to oven-baked potatoes, from morning till evening, right where people are on the move.

“Myyrmanni is already the tenth shopping center in the Helsinki metropolitan area where customers can enjoy Picnic’s products. Its central location in the mall caters to a wide range of customers and their needs – from a quick takeaway breakfast to a relaxed lunch break or a convenient dinner,” says Granroth.

In addition to Myyrmanni, Picnic can be found in several other shopping centers across the Helsinki metropolitan area, including Columbus, Dixi, Forum, Jumbo, Kaari, Kamppi, Lippulaiva, Sello, and Tripla. Alongside these and other restaurants in the capital region, Picnic also has locations across Finland in central, high-traffic areas.

“A workplace valued by young people

The growing Picnic chain continues to create job opportunities for more and more young people. Over 3,000 young individuals have already been introduced to working life through Picnic, and employee satisfaction is high: the latest employee satisfaction survey gave an overall score of 8.4 out of 10.

Picnic’s Janina Hallberg: ‘It’s important for us to build a career path together with young employees, one that teaches them a wide range of skills and encourages career advancement. Responsibility for young workers is something that connects us with Myyrmanni.

We have a great time working here, and young people really value us as an employer, which is reflected in our high employee satisfaction score. We offer our employees a diverse job where they can learn many skills, from personal, high-quality customer service to product preparation,” says Janina Hallberg, CEO of Picnic.

The owner company of Myyrmanni, Citycon, collaborates with Nuorten Palvelu ry, an organization working for the benefit of young people. This year, the collaboration has been visible through CV workshops organized by Nuorten Palvelu ry and the Vantaa Youth Department, aimed at supporting youth employment and helping young people find summer jobs. Additionally, Myyrmanni employs security staff trained to engage with young people, whose responsibilities go beyond standard security duties to include working with youth and promoting their interests.
